سرعت اینترنت 10هزار برابر می شود

مؤسسه CERN در سوئيس، به زودي نسل جديدي از شبكه را كه سرعتي معادل ده هزار برابر سرعت باند پهن (Band Width) فعلي دارد، راه‌اندازي خواهد كرد.

آقاي تيم برنزلي، پدر Web كه در سال 1991 شبكه جهاني WWW را راه‌اندازي كرد، هم‌اكنون همراه با تعدادي ديگر از دانشمندان در حال كار بر روي پروژه ای به نام Grid است.

Grid (شبكه) در حقيقت شبكه‌اي جهاني است كه سرعتش ده هزار برابر سرعت شبكه جهاني فعلي است.

BackBone يا زيرساخت Grid از ابتدا و تماماً بر روي فيبرهاي نوري بنا شده است. اين فيبرهاي نوري، مؤسسه CERN سوئيس را به يازده مركز در سرتاسر جهان متصل مي‌كند. مراكزي در آمريكا، كانادا، اروپا و آسياي جنوب شرقي.

در واقع پروژه Grid به منظور ثبت و ذخيره‌سازي اطلاعات مربوط به پروژه LHC (ابرشتاب‌دهنده ذرات- Large Haddron Collidar) طراحي و پياده‌سازي شده است.

از آنجايي كه اطلاعات مربوط به پروژه LHC به ميزان قابل توجهي زياد است و همچنين از آنجايي كه لازم است اين اطلاعات در اختيار دانشمندان مختلف جهان به صورت Online قرار گیرد، نیاز به شبکه ای مجزا از اینترنت برای رد و بدل این اطلاعات بوده است.

البته به مانند اينترنت، Grid هم اگر چه براي منظوري خاص طراحي شده است، اما استفاده عمومي از آن به زودي آغاز خواهد شد.

كار روي پروژه Grid از سال 2001 آغاز شده و بناست آقاي برنزلي رسماً در تابستان امسال آن را افتتاح نمايد

در حال حاضر Grid حدود 5 هزار سرور را در 11 مركز تحت پوشش خود دارد كه اين تعداد قرار است تا دو سال آينده يعني سال 2010 به دويست هزار سرور در سرتاسر جهان برسد

با بهره‌برداري از اين شبكه، كاربران آن خواهند توانست با سرعتي فراتر از حد تصور، اقدام به Download و يا Upload فايل‌هاي خود در شبكه نمايند. به عنوان مثال يك فايل فيلم كه حدود يك گيگابايت حجم دارد، در كمتر از يك ثانيه Download خواهد شد.

بد نيست بدانيد پروژه LHC در سال 2007 در زميني به وسعت 27 كيلومتر مربع واقع در مرز سوئيس و فرانسه و در عمق 100 متري زمين راه‌اندازي شده است

ویرایش نهایی SQL Server 2008 ماه آگوست عرضه خواهد شد.

بعد از شنیده شدن خبرهایی مبنی بر تاخیر سه ماهه دیگر در انتشار SQL Server 2008، مایکروسافت اعلام کرده است که نسل جدید پایگاه داده ها طبق وعده داده شده در سه ماهه سوم سال جاری میلادی منتشر خواهد شد.
مایکروسافت در کنفرانس Worldwide Partner هفته که در هیوستن برگزار شد اشاراتی بر قرار گرفتن SQL Server 2008 در لیست فروش در ماه آگوست خبر داد.
Fausto Ibarra مدیر جدید محصول SQL Server 2008 در مصاحبه خود اعلام کرد که SQL Server 2008 در انتهای سه ماهه سوم سال (پایان سپتامبر) به صورت نسخه RTM منتشر خواهد شد. او گفت:"ما در مراحل نهایی تست هستیم. کاندیدای انتشار نهایی توسط دهها هزار نفر دانلود شد و ما برای دیدن محصول نهایی در بازار بسیار هیجان زده هستیم."
مایکروسافت قصد دارد که انتشار SQL Server 2008 را با انتشار سرویس پک 1 ویژوال استودیو 2008 و دات نت فریم ورک 3.5 که هم اینک در سطح بتا قرار دارند، هم زمان کند. در این میان Entity Framework برای مایکروسافت از اهمیت زیادی برخوردار است.
قیمت SQL Server 2008 بر اساس اظهار مایکروسافت تغییر نخواهد کرد.
